Choir News
We are very pleased to report that the Summer Cream Tea Event held at St. Teath was a resounding success, raising in excess of £800 for Choir Funds. Our thanks go to all who attended and participated, with special acknowledgement to Bob Fox & Jenny Metters for all their hard work in bringing the event together. Added by Alan 25/06/10 When Tintagel Orpheus Male Voice Choir received an email asking a small group to sing during a proposal of marriage, they had no idea that it would lead to the cliff tops above Tintagel Castle. James Halse from Tiverton came up with the idea when mentioning to a friend that his girlfriend Georgina loved the North Cornwall Coast and in particular the Tintagel area. He subsequently contacted Bob Fox the choir secretary. Bob and the choir liked the idea and so at mid day on the first of July a group of eight choir members awaited on the cliff path high above the waves, the young couple’s arrival. Unknown to Georgina they were there to sing to her before James popped the question. The song, ‘Let It Be Me,’ seemed to be a very appropriate choice and so it proved as she stood with James amid the splendour of the cliffs and ocean. After the song James did the honourable thing and knelt while he proposed. Happily the answer was yes. James said afterwards, ‘it was everything I had wished for - Georgina was moved to tears and has told everyone she has met how lovely it all was.’ He added, ‘we will never forget the occasion thanks to the great people of the TOMVC.’ Bob Fox secretary of the choir who helped organise the event said, ‘we had no hesitation in saying yes to James’ request and all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Bob also admitted there was also a little moistness in the eyes of some of the choir members as they sang to the lovely couple. Just to round off the occasion James has now suggested that the choir sing at the wedding of Georgina and himself in 2011. Added by Alan 30.07.10
The Choir sponsored an event at the Minstrels Music Centre on Sunday 29th. February which featured young musicians in the area. The event raised £300 to go to the Haiti Relief Fund.
